Personally, I've not had a problem with the dead ends in SC's map. The old D1 maps were horrible for that. The Total Chaos maps were fraught with them. The dead ends in these new maps are side halls that are hard to access and don't interfere with the flow of the game. The ones in Total Chaos did. A...

Sirius, that was in the D1 set Total Chaos. The level you're talking about is called Mount Slagel. I was working on a D3 version of it years ago. iirc, you guys tried beam weapons but with very poor results and dropped the idea? Didn't mention that in a pd cast?
I like the secondary idea though. I felt like the ion needed a secondary, maybe rapid fire like the lasers.

BTW Dispersion is far from underpowered. I disagree. Or maybe the damage is disproportionate to the sound and recoil. My only beef is that with the Gatlin, the tracers don't line up with the muzzle flash. With a sweeping spray, or turning, the tracers will be waaaaayyy over to one side. While the shells still strike where the reticle is/was, it's a bit disorienting. Wondering about the Devs thoughts concerning why ...

I'm using an old Saitek X52. It has its own mapping software like you posted. (nice gui setup btw!) It's just a pain in the butt to map everything to the keyboard and then turn around and map it to the buttons on the stick. :P That's assuming the game recognizes the axi Ok. Here's hoping. ;D
