Woah. That might be cool. Make flares into a "flash missile" sort of thing? But maybe a bit less flashy, and a bit more, "The longer you look at them, the more blind you get"?

I'm firmly committed to using a joystick, and I'd be sad if I was doomed to lose every match just because of that. Actually Thorne, that's the direction most games are headed in. Coming pre-equipped with a desired, but limited, load out is very popular. Retro games didn't do that, like 90's Descent, Quake or Doom, but in this day and age, it's a lot more normal to make all guns roughly equal, only, make some bet...

I disagree with Thorne. It seems traditional to give the player a weak weapon as a default. But this only makes sense in single player games. I fully expect the invul to be removed from the final game. I think it's a really bad mechanic, honestly. At least perfect invulnerability is. Some sort of shield booster is completely fine, but I think anything that makes you impossible to kill is no good, even if something like Atlas missiles shat...

A BUTTON, that aligns the ship. Like, a dedicated button that you press, and it automatically aligns you towards the ground. Isn't that crazy?
