Unreal Engine 4 now FREE FOR ALL

Postby MadMax1998 » 02 Mar 2015, 18:10

Yep, UE4 is no longer a pay-per-month subscription; it's now free.

Details here.

Now I gotta keep myself off unrealengine.com and finish coding PG so I won't get distracted!

I guess I'll try to download and see if my laptop can run it. I'll have it downloading while I'm finishing up Ice Breaker. This is sheer awesomeness!

I'm downloading the launcher now...I'm super excited to be able to use UE4. I hope I can run it. Will let you know if it works or not. If not, I may have to liberate my wife's laptop from her since she bought hers like last year. Mine is running on about 4 or 5 years now.

I don't think it'll work on my laptop. As I mentioned before, my video card doesn't support the new direct x...and my installation of UE4 dies out when it's installing Direct X. I'll just have to steal my wife's laptop to see if it'll run it.

The UE4 editor defaults to Ultra quality btw - I can show you how to optimize it to run better on a laptop. Awesome that it's free now!

Yeah really huh? No need to make a half ass game just to get a free subscription lol

Honestly those half assed games were more about the learning experience than the free subscription codes. I'd still encourage participation in them.
