Cool setup too! :)

Who's a lefty?.. Because of the 3D Connexion Spacepilot?

Ambidextrous then? :D

That means you'd have to have the others first! :D

True! :D
Although I have no doubts about the other's abilities, variety is the spice of all things creative - so knowing how to, and having the proper tools is half the battle! :D

Besides, this is meant to be a spare-time project - so with that said, the others that have the skills for a particular task aren't always around to help. As you can see by how many have signed up and been accepted, that are still busy with real life! :|

Diversity:
Such is the task of the few, to be knowledgeable for the many - and at least try to complete the tasks at hand, and not leave it chance that it will be finished.
At least until they return! :D

Hey guys! Where is everybody?

Anyway, I found a cool wordpress site that has a ton of cool resource links as a footer on each page - and thought some of the modders may be able to make use of them!

http://myclone.wordpress.com/2013/03/ Enjoy! :D

Hi guys, I've been working on some stuff to generate a bit more awareness of the project lately - and have found a few willing contributors with some spare time lined up to help with it, so let me know what you think.

One project is similar to this guys work, but with a Descent theme:
DA Emoticomics

And another is for an eMotiComic using larger Descent based chat icons:

I'm working on a comic based stylesheet of sorts that would enable artists & none artists to be creative with a set of Cel Shaded large(50x50-100x100) Descent based chat icons done up in various angles, so users could create comical word play about Descent in general, that I plan to share with DA users for journal entry or regular comic strip based content.

And an artist named Christian Kaw has shown some interest in the project! :D

I'll need to get permission for using the concept art in ways it wasn't originally intended to be used for too, but the guidelines should hopefully cover that.

I have a few related projects I'm working on now for other types of comic content, such as a smaller format for eMotiComic's that's 2-3 times larger than the normal PixelArt that I've seen, and I've been working on a stylesheet for it. That would enable DA Users to assemble and contribute their own comics and custom content, simply by using a customizable comic strip layout stylesheet - with each element having the ability to be animated, using the default or custom animated gif content since the end result will still be in DA's textual context for the animations to work. With 3 layers, background(underlay), subject content, and foreground(overlay) which would include the textual balloons(with 'callout shape' justified text) and action sounds for all the FX - like explosions, crashes, weapon fire, and bumps & grinds that normally occur in a Descent style game.
Although I've seen some sites and DA user content that have a lot of the resources that could be used for it, there's still more that would need to be made for a more customized look to the scenes - like more angles and poses for each bot/character.

I have an old app on CD for creating comic strips, but it's seen better days - and isn't working, so I thought I'd make my own style of a Comic Creator and share it with DA users! :D
But, it has a ways to go before it's useable - unless I can find some help with it, so I've been asking around a bit to see if there's some interest in a project like it.
So, some feedback on this would be appreciated! :D

I found a fair alternative to purchasing a pro 3d modeling app here:

Or for on the go contributors to be able to help, even when traveling! :D

Early tests point to a very powerful texture and normal map generation tool. It is sad that the official website does not have any tutorials, so I will be making some video tutorials for the YouTube channel, specifically pointing to asset creation for UE4 and CryEngine.

By the way I am not a 3DS Max user (sadly) and I await the acquisition of a commercial license. So I couldn't advice you on that.

I am currently testing a 3DS Max alternative that in my honest opinion is exceeding my expectations, and seems to speed up work flow with UE4 considerbly. It's also free (personal and commercial).

It imports in the following formats: .3d, .3dc, .3ds, .ac, .b3d, .blend, .bmp, .bvh, .bw, .cfg, .claraarchive, .claramats, .csm, .dae, .dds, .dxf, .fbx, .gdal, .geo, .gif, .hdr, .hmp, .ifc, .int, .inta, .irr, .irrmesh, .iv, .jpeg, .jpg, .jsfbx, .json, .lwo, .lws, .lxo, .markdown, .md, .md2, .md3, .md5, .mdc, .mdl, .mtl, .ndo, .nff, .obj, .off, .osgterrain, .pbm, .pgm, .pic, .pk3, .ply, .png, .pnm, .pov, .ppm, .q3d, .q3s, .rgb, .rgba, .sgi, .shp, .smd, .stl, .terrain, .text, .tga, .tif, .tiff, .txp, .txt, .vismat, .vismatzip, .vrmat, .vrmatzip, .vrscene, .vrscenezip, .vta, .wrl, .wrz, .x, .xgl, .zgl, .zip

It Exports to the following: Collada, Obl, Stl, Fbx, ThreeJS Object, ThreeJS Scene, ThreeJS Geometry

It's called Clara.io

Many Thanks :)
So, I'm wondering how extensive anyone here has checked into this online Clara.io, WebGL based 3d modeling site?, using cloud storage & rendering. And I imagine even larger scenes would render pretty fast using the cloud rendering.
With 5GB of space & 1hr of render time for the free account.
I especially took notice to all the online tutorial content and youtube channels:

I was going to post this in Martin's Music thread since it's pretty active lately, but this is for another helper app of sorts for the musically inclined - related to the Classic Media player encoding abilities: If it's useful fine, if not - at least it's here for reference of future mod makers when needed for something more specific like OGM music files! :D
