Generating varied interest in SolC!

Post by 1DVD4D2UDK » 02 May 2015, 06:24

I had an idea for some type of Descent trivia contest, where the winner(s) could have some influence on the different aspects of advertising the game ie. font, color, theme, & music choice from some of the contributing artists etc, etc.

A good place to choose fonts might be here: www.dafonts.com

This is a good and important idea.

Crew of Sol Contingency: Stop developing the game right now and please design this Descent themed trivia contest and create an assortment of prizes. Maybe winners choose the game's font, or they get to fly over to one of the developer's houses and watch them work for a day, even ask questions. A few people might even get to win a copy of the entire finished source code!! Endless prizes!

And of course, cash prizes.

Let's do this.

Well, there you go - I hope your pilots license is up
to date, and charter uniform in good condition! l☺l!
Since the ongoing community efforts to keep Descent alive for so
long has done a good job so far, why not extend that effort with
courtesy to the dev team as a cursory overseer to steer whatever
projects get underway in the right direction - to approve only the
'right stuff' in the venue of their efforts, and I'm pretty sure a lot
of the community would enjoy being able to have an influence! :)

Sol Contingency is not Descent and should no longer be connected with it in PR to avoid legal trouble.

Unfortunately I have to say Max is right, we already know Interplay will threaten and froth at the mouth even when they don't own the rights themselves -- and that's still enough to delay our project even more, as we learned last fall.

~I'll also have to agree about distancing ourselves from Interplay, but not the
Descent community - since getting them involved is half the battle, so there's
got to be many ways of getting around it and make hay when the sun shines!

Speaking of trivia, doesn't this forum have some Descent themed questions for registration? "Prove you're human by telling us the name of the class 1 drone" or something.

Might wanna get that checked.

Well, I guess when the demo gets released we'll at least have some fodder for the main game aye? - since there's still going to be some sort of pregame back story right Fox?, so we can come up with various strategies to boost the awareness of the demo & later the full game!
