Small audio bug

Postby Tamurel » 08 Nov 2015, 23:22

I noticed during the livestream that when I switched from speakers to earbuds, the game's sound was gone. I had to reboot the game in order for the sound to work again. So apparently the game doesn't realize you switched audio device, causing the sound to disappear.

Could not recreate here. My System kept the Speakers active for SC (after I switched) while I could use the Headphones and listen to something else.
We're going to need a bigger boat.

It's worth noting that UDK's audio engine is not without its flaws and can drop audio for a number of reasons. That said, other games can get fucked up when you switch audio devices; heck, even YouTube in Firefox does it sometimes.

Agreed. Would it be too difficult to have an in-game selector to pull from your audio devices so you can change without Alt-Tab?

I don't think the engine has that feature in UDK. It selects whatever is the default on startup (check your log).

I can think of one solution to problems with sound and the menu going funky when we alt-tab, but I don't know if it can be applied here.

In WoW we have three options:
1. Windowed
2. Windowed Fullscreen
3. Full screen

Is there a possibility of introducing a Windowed Fullscreen option?

1994 Descent One won the first round with mini-maps and 2004 World of Warcraft takes a cheap shot with a Full Screen knockdown.
