[not a bug] No projectile impact FX on doors

As per the topic, a minor visual inconsistency with the impact FX from most of the primary weapons.

Projectiles from the Laser, Gatling, Dispersion and MAC (though not Ion because of the way those projectiles work) do not leave their impact FX whenever they hit a door.

I can guess this might be because it's harder to leave e.g. a laser burn mark on what ends up being a moving surface.

This is not a bug, but a workaround to the problem of seeing floating impact residue when the door opens after you shot it. There is no way for the engine to move the impact effects with the door blades, so we opted to not show them.

So basically the impact locations effects right now are not decals?

Workaround: How about splitting the impact animation into 2 parts then?

One part would be just the particle effect that appears when a projectile hits the wall (sparks, explosions, etc.).
The other part would be the resident impact location (bullet hole, blue glowing melted stuff from lasers, etc.).

When projectiles hit a door, they would only play the 1st part. How about it?

Though still, the best solution would be to have the 2nd part as decals - overlay texture - rather than particle effect animations
