Yoshimitsu wrote:Goddamit. I just wrote up a detailed overview of D:U's present and future but it took so long that by the time I went to post it I had been automatically logged out and the post was lost

I'll try again later when I have time.

Short version: It's incomplete, buggy, and lots of fun.
If you still have time, I'm sure it would still be an interesting read!

OoPs! Found it on the next page: Re: The hype is real.

Nice write up btw! :D

I have hopes for this project and I'm still lurking. As a backer of D:U I have my doubts about how they may take the project. It looks like as of right now a lot of time is being spent dribbling back and forth on how they will progress with gameplay elements as some people want to modernize the experience with twitchy FPS like M/KB, others want a classic joystick experience, and they are adding inertia systems and other stuff that kinda make piloting janky. On the flip side, it seems a lot of budget is being spent towards making a "modernized" single player experience with voice acting and cinematic "BS" (IMO) which to me completely takes away from the classic feel of Descent shoot-em-up in the mines. I missed the opportunity to play this rendition of 6dof but I'm hoping it's done right. Awaiting a chance to get in on the action.

~ Me too! But until I can get off my laptop and onto a real PC again
I'll have to forgo all the fanfare of the release and join in later on :(

Meanwhile though, I'd like to mention a promo site Martin invited me to called
http://www.copromote.com
aka 'Cross-promotion for creators. Free.'
It looks pretty cool, if you have a few bucks you can go PRO & promote even more -
it's linked to various other promo sites as well such as twitter, FB, tumblr & others.
