"Hail to the triple B baby" ....Duke

Just thought of something fun for consideration (for much later), how about a trigger on some of the maps, so when someone triggers it, all the lights go off for 15 seconds or something, and everyones headlights are on during that period.

Another one, a tracktor beam which you can use only once, so if your able to get a lock on, you can swing them round and smash someone into a wall.

I guess when someone serves a game, these are options that could be made available to them (enabled or disabled options).

OK, maybe they sound stupid, lol, just some fun things that came to mind :)

I could imagine the lights going out as part of a specific map, but a tractor beam? Psh. Going too far.

I think a tractor beam or even a latching cable would be a nightmare to code, not to mention trying to get it to show up for users on all ends correctly.
iirc, that idea was tossed in when Outrage was asking the community about ideas as well. ^_^

I wanted ablative armor. ;)

Heh, not bad ;)

Y'all wanna hear one of the more "out there" ideas we went through went brainstorming the Ion? A knife-type weapon made of drills that would work a-la Halo sword where it would lunge/boost you forward when you got within a certain tight range and then you'd drill and kill the other guy real fast, almost instantly, brutally, violently

(Shhh, we didn't throw it away completely, shhhh) :P

I'm pretty sure doom 3 had some multiplayer maps where you could turn off the lights. it seems kind of gimmicky for multiplayer but in singleplayer it could really make for some cool moments. even d2 had some rooms where you could "stealth" through with the lights off.

maybe a tractor beam could be a special item in team games where it can be used to heal team-mates similar to the link gun from UT or transfer the "flag" from player to player in ctf.

I take a Cerberus-drone turret controlled by an R2 unit riding as co-pilot - these are not the drones you are looking for... bbzzzz bbbzz bbbbbzzzzz

or what about a camera guided missile. i can't put my finger on what game i saw this in, but it's like you shoot a seeker missile but instead you can guide it with a built in camera. that way you can launch it around corner and guide it and hit bots, cores, anything really! and you can control the speed of it. . . . wait i think call of duty did that, if you killed enough people you got perks to grab this suit case that had artillery missile or something like that, that you were able to control and guide! well anyway that's an idea right there for SOLC.
